What it does

• +You give it the wall area and the ceiling area. It gives you the whole order, not just a price.
• +Sheet count is worked out at YOUR board size. Four by eight and four by twelve are a 1.5x difference in sheets, so the tool makes you pick rather than guessing for you.
• +Joint tape, joint compound and screws are worked out from the published coverage figures for the trade, so you are not eyeballing how many boxes of mud to send.
• +Finish level three, four or five changes both the compound and the finishing labor, because a skim coat is real work and real material.
• +Corner bead is counted in eight foot sticks off the outside-corner footage you give it, and only if you have corners.
• +Every single line has a 'show working' link that spells out exactly how that number was reached, so you can defend it to a supplier or a GC.
• +Waste changes what you order and never what you pay a hanger, because nobody hangs offcuts.
• +Each estimate is saved to your drywall history, separate from any other estimating you do here.

A day with it

1. 01You take off 3,400 square feet of wall and 1,600 of ceiling on a ranch remodel.
2. 02You pick four by twelve, because that is what your yard is sending this month, and level four finish.
3. 03It comes back with the sheet count, the tape, the boxes of mud, the pounds of screws and the sticks of bead.
4. 04The GC asks where the mud number came from. You tap 'show working' and read him the coverage figure it used.
5. 05You copy the whole thing into a text and send it to the yard.

What it does not do

Printed here before you pay rather than discovered afterwards.

• It does not read a plan. You give it the areas; it does the ordering math. Measuring is still yours.
• Tape, compound and screw counts come from published trade coverage figures, not from your drawing. They are order quantities, and the tool labels them as coverage rules rather than passing them off as measurements.
• The material and labor rates are defensible starting defaults, not your yard's prices or your crew's rate. Treat the first few estimates as a calibration against a job you already know.
• Ceilings, soffits and hard-to-reach work all price at the same labor rate today. There is no height or access factor yet.

How it is priced
